Welcome to M.A.R.B.

My name is Crystal and I am the addict that will be blogging about recipes I have torn out of Magazines.

Here is the plan. Every Sunday I will choose and make a recipe. I will take photos during the process and then give a critique. I have been accumulating recipes over that past 5 years and it is about time I try them.

I hope you will find this blog informative and entertaining. Thank you!

Glazed Citrus Doodles

Today's recipe was chosen because I thought it would not take long to execute. I was wrong.

This recipe was torn from the Everyday FOOD magazine.

Just like last week, here is a picture of the ingredients required for this recipe. I am starting to really enjoy the designing element of this picture :)

I realized after starting to portion out the dough that there was some flour in the bottom of my mixing bowl that was still not integrated . So, mix well!

Unlike other recipes I have tried, the number of servings that was said to be made was exactly what I resulted in producing. I did not roll the dough but instead used my handy cookie scoop.

The recipe asks for the racks to be in the upper and lower thirds of the oven. I DO NOT recommend this. I assumed that this meant I could put two baking sheets in at the same time. Bad idea! The cookies on the lower rack began to brown less then 10 minutes after being put in the oven. The cookies on the upper  rack hadn't browned at all. I ended up returning the racks to there original placement (center) and baked the last baking sheet of cookies for 13 minutes.

While the cookies cooled I made the glaze. I placed the cooling rack on top of a sheet of waxed paper. Then, I spooned about 2 teaspoons of the glaze over the tops of the cookies. I am not sure if I was supposed to smother them more than I had but I ended up with more than a 1/4 cup of left over glaze.

According to the recipe, at this point they are supposed to set for an hour. Not going to happen.
This picture was taken 15 minutes after I glazed them.

As much as I enjoyed the aroma that was produced by these cookies, I am going to TOSS this recipe. The edges were crisp and the center was chewy but their taste was quite bland. The glaze had a tang but was very sweet. It took a lot longer to execute than I had expected.

For all you Weight Watcher points followers these are a hefty 4 points each.
